Surgery Is Successful But Lymph Nodes Disappoint (Apr 8, 2010)

We are very pleased to tell you that Ann was discharged from Glenbrook Hospital today and is resting comfortably at home.

Nello apologizes for not getting an email out earlier as he was caught up in caring for Ann during the past few days. He did, however, assemble a rudimentary website for her and posted information from her cancer treatment in 2003:

Ann’s surgery on Thursday, April 8 went well. As expected, she had a double mastectomy. Unfortunately, they discovered cancer in a lymph node near her right breast and so they removed the lymph nodes under her right arm. We anxiously await the pathology report which we expect perhaps as soon as late on Monday.

Ann has enjoyed the cards she received. We both appreciate the caring support from each of you.

We will share more details as they become available. In the mean time, we all need our rest.

Thank you for your continued interest in our family.

Ann, so happy to hear your back at home!!!!! We were with you with out hearts since we know and will be in future. We honestly hope that you will recover soon. Sorry that we have not give you earlier any thoughts and hopes.

But after the move 1st of April in our new home, we celebrated last Sunday Liza's first holy communion , having the complete family at our new home. It was a big day for her and we all enjoyed it very much.

Dear Ann, I've been thinking of you ever since the news from Nello and every day since April 8 waiting for an update. I'm sorry that you had to go through such devastating surgery. Please stay strong, if not for yourself but for those who love you: Nello and Alison. I'm sorry we haven't kept more in touch, but I know your life has been busy with work and Alison. Please let me know if you want me to contact Melodeers. I received an email from Nancy Joslyn asking me how I was doing ( we shared the same hairdresser, and were going to room together but I got sick.) I haven't replied yet. So let me know. Melodeers and you showed me such love and support when I was diagnosed, and it was so difficult to drop out after that, but the neuropathy prevents me from standing for hours. I enjoyed your "valentines" letter and news of your trip to Beijing. Alison sounds like a very bright young lady, but she's only about 4 years old or so?

You are in my thoughts and prayers,

    Love,

    Dorothy Sybert

    Nello-
Thinking of you and Ann and of course Allison. Hoping all is progressing as well as can be expected and that Allison is comforted with all that you do to make her the happy child that she is.

What a dad you are and husband! A true trooper and someone we would ALL want by our sides!

Open the windows for Ann to enjoy this weather!

    Hugs to all,
    Kelley
